Mrs. Hazel H. Brown
847 Gertrude Place, N. W.
Atlanta, Georgia, 30318

Dear Mrs, Brown:

Thank you for your letter of January 9, 1967, advising this office of
pollution problems on Proctor Creek,

This office is aware of continuing problems in this area and we regret
the inconvenience that the matter is causing.

Steps have been taken to replace the Bellwood Outfall Sewer which is
one of the serious problem sources and completion of this work during
late summer, should alleviate the troubles to some extent,

The second serious problem that we face in eventual removal of
pollution from Proctor Creek is not so simple or quickly solved. This
is the condition created by periodic combined storm and sanitary dis-
charges to Proctor Creek from Interceptors at North Avenue and Greens-
ferry. Removal of overflows from these old "combined sewer" facilities
is well in the future, though presently under study.

I hope that the Bellwood Outfall relief and other similar programs
presently underway will provide a degree of necessary relief to you
and your neighbors and assure you of the continued interest and
attention to this problem by your City Government,

Yours very truly,

Ivan Allen, Jr.
Mayor
