Dear Mr. Leftwich:
As you know, the Planning Department has worked very close with
Bill Wofford and his department in the development of this Housing
Code Program. The Planning Department assisted Bill in the overall
progrem development a few years back and we have worked, more or less,
in a review capacity on the latest revisions.
After a staff review with the Mayor and Earl Landers on this
updated progrem, changes were made which generated the attached memo,
resulting in e re-review of the code by Bill, Barl and myself and
Earl's suggestion of a joint meeting of the two committees in order
that we might arrive at e workeble solution. Bi11 Wofford informed
me of the Building Committee's meeting, but I was unable to attend
and I didn’t realize or understand that a decision was going to be
sought at that meeting. I would like to apologize to you and Bill
for coming to you at the very lest minute (in that Mr. Cook was not
present) and making the request to delay without an explanation.
I would like to suggest that a joint meeting of the Building
and Planning and ra, Gommittees be held on March 3, 1967. This
is the reguler echeduled date for the Planning and Development Committee,
which Mr. Griggs end yourself would be normally ettending. I would
welcome any suggestions thet you might heve concerning this matter.
