Zoning Panel Rejects 352-A

The aldermanic Zoning Com-
mittee turned down a plan Thurs-
day to build 352 apartments on
Collier Road NW at Interstate
285 after more than 75 persons
protested the units.

guing that the apartments
would wreck the Collier Heights
Plan. Hollowell gave the com-
mittee ‘anti’? petitions he said
were signed by 900 persons.
The some 75 persons also pro-
tested a shopping center, which
was approved, and a car wash,

which was denied—both of which



were asked for Bakers Ferry
Road SW, at Boulder Park.

All actions are subject to full
board approval.

The committee also:

1. Approved a request to re-
zone from residential (R-3) to
commercial (C-1) a tract front-
ing 400 feet on the northeast
side of Bakers Ferry Road, 776
feet northwest of Fairburn
Road SW.

2. Denied a special use permit
for a car wash on_ property
fronting 125 feet on the north-
east side of Bakers Ferry Road,
338 feet northwest from Fair-
burn Road.

3. Approved a special use pet
mit for a day care center at
456 Collier Ridge Drive NW.
4. Denied a request to rezone



from residential (R-5) to apart-
ment (A-1) property at 1203
Northwest Drive NW.

5. Approved a special use per-

fronting 120 feet on the south-
west side of Simpson Road NW
at Dixie Hills Circle.

9. Denied a request to rezone
from residential (R-6) to apart-
