Mr. Roy Elrod, Manager
Atlante Civic Center

Atlanta, Georgie, 30312

x

Dear Mr, Elrod:

I want to teke this opportunity to thank you,
Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Sweat for your cooperation
during our trying times last Friday in making the
Civic Center available for the public meeting following Dr.
Martin Luther King's death.

I em sure that the exercising of an uncommon amount
of meture intelligence by you, certainly helped us avoid
a dangerous situation that could have easily ended in
tradgedy.

This type of sincere cooperation, if it were avail~
able from other city department heads, could readily lead
to a revolutinpn in race relations in the City of Atlanta,

If I can be of any essistence to you, please feel
free to call on me or the organization I ata at
anytime.

Sincerely,

Joe Simmons, Executive Committee
