Dear Dan:
Thanks for your several communications about the
National Urban Coalition,
I have no suggestions as to changes in the draft
other than the ones made at the meeting in which the State
Government is mentioned. I would hope, in view of recent
events, that we attempt to get the new Department in the
State Government working with our Coalition group. I believe
the only way we will make progress in this area is to get
them involved, and I don't think we should take a negative
approach based on their past actions, The State must
participate,
I have talked about the draft statement with
Mr. Bill Sterne, President of the Chamber, and Opie Shelton,
our Executive Director, and we plan to have it approved at the
next Chamber Board meeting which is on November &,
I would like very much to get the benefit of your
views as to how we may undertake some specific proposals in
the business community next year. I have some open time on
November 15 and 16 for lunch, and if you do, it might be well
to see if we could get together and try to get Opie or one of
his delegates so that we have some specific objectives on this
program during the coming year.
With best wishes,
Sincerely,
(om ia
