cult situation. Your judgment and courage were adminable and
when 9 speak of courage I am not Apeaking og the gact that vou
merely went inio the middle og dhe mob, but Y am Apeaking parti-~
cularly og your courage in taking the position that you took
during the riot as well as in uvour handling og! the situation

influence fon good with the civic and state authorities through-
out the nation.
AU thinking men who are not 4o terrigied of a block vote
that thein backbone disappears, know that everthing that we
cherish in this country 44 dependent upon Law and orden,
seems that some of our northern cities Ahould be in the “banana
nepublics”, and 9 am particularly gratified to see that your
fiam hand has been stronely approved by the northern press as
well as the Congress. Gt is also gratigving to see that 4o
many, og the night thinking negroes, particularly in Atlanta,
have thought that you handled the situation well,
9 think that your Atlania Congressman made a very good
statement when he said that no matier how we quibble about the
meaning of "bLlach power”, at inevitably heads to violence. for-
tunately, very pew of either nace believe in “black power",
“white power, on any other kind of power that connotes violence.
G nemember that two weeks ago when we were Attting on

pubLic Life grabs the newspaper early an the morning 40 see
