Georria September 30, 1966.

Honorable I. Allen
Mayor of Atlanta,

Atlanta, Georgia

Dear lr. Allen,-

Referring to your remarks on W.S.B. T.V. last
evening rerarding the choice of the people of our Great Skate
of Georgia as well as the good people of your Great City, in
their election of Mr. Lester Maddox to run for Governor of
our great State, subject to the general election on November
8th 1966.

I don't think you realized at the time that
you not only were downgrading Mr. Maddox, but the very people
of your Great City who elected you to your present high of-
fice. I would like to say that the good people of Atlanta are
not the “trash'"n that you indicated on T.V., neither are the
good people of the State of Georgia. I am sure that Ex-Mayor
Hartsfield would never have stooped so low as to do what you
did,

I have always been a democrat and have always
voted as such, but sonce the present conditions of our Great
Country seems to be deterating under the democratic control,
I am now looking toward the man or men running for public
office, irrespective of whether they are republicans or den-
ocrats.

I voted for Mr. Maddox and unless Mr. Bob
Calloway can show some decided improvement over Mr. Maddox,

I SHALL VOTE FOR MR. MADDOX AGAN, NOW = AM J TRASH JUST "~

‘1.

BECAUSE IF CAN'T SEE THE MEN EXACTLY AS YOU SEE THEM.

Mr. Ellis Arnall is a second cousin by blood,
but when he said on T.V. that "ANYONE THAT WAS NOT THE KIND
OF DEMOCRAT THAT HE WAS COULD 'GO TO HELL'* So he lost the
elect ion.

Mr. Allen, your influence has been badly
damaged and you did it yourself by your remarks about Mr.
Maddox and the very people who gave you your high office,

| I believe, if you want to be fair, that af-
ter you have thoucht your way through all this, your apology
to Mr. Maddox and the good people of Georgia mi cht help
some, but even this is doubtful. .

Yours truly
