T o : Mrs. Ann Moses From: Dan Sweat J{./ Subject: Attached memo on Downtown Trees Jack Delius is going to make another request for some overtime to provide maintenance for these trees. Even though it is the responsibility of the adjacent property owners, the fact is the trees are dying and the City is going to get the blame. Most of the original trees which were planted have been in about a year. The original ball and burlap treatment usually carries these trees for about the first year. Then as the roots break through the burlap they are on their own and this is what is occurring now. I think we should support Jack 1 s request for a few hundred dollars overtime and he can have his people take care of these trees. It is my opinion that the City might as well get geared up to maintain the trees for the great mass of adjoining property owners will never do it themselves. DS :fy �
