The attached memorandum received from the Washington Office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development deals mainly with the method for using unspent and surplus Model Cities supplemental funds and establishing a date for the beginning of our 2nd year program. 1. 1 I I i It is our projection that at the end of our present contract year, May 31, 1970, we will have approximately $2,500,000.00 in unspent and unallocate_d funds. After examining all of t h e various possibilities for the use of these funds, the staff ! has determined that they should be used for one-time capita lI , expen d itures. I We are in the process of establishing a list of projects th~t will me et this criteria and would like to submit it to the I Board at an early date for consideration. In the meantime, : if you have any ideas or suggestions that you feel should be included on this list, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
