IRVING L. GREENBERG, l\L D. REGINA GABLER, M. D. SUITE 105 MEDICAL.DENTAL Bun.DING 9~0 W. PEACHTREE ST., N. W. ATLANTA 9, GEORGIA February 6, 1963 Mayor Ivan Allen City Hall Atlant a, Georgia Dear Mr. Mayor: I appreciate d your answer to my lett er of January 3, 1963 re: "The Atl anta Wall". I s a i d in my first l etter that I r eali zed that my inf ormation concerning the events which lead to the erecti on of this wa ll was such tha t I made no cla ims to knowing how best to solve the basic pr oblem. Neve rtheless, I felt that the action that had been taken had caused the "Image" of Atlanta to suffer enormously in the minds of intelligent pe ople of good will throughout our nation and the wor l d. Your r esp onse po i nted out that were I in posses s ion of all the facts I woul d agree with the stand that had been taken. Since gett ing your letter I have tried to learn more ab out the problems i nvolved and I woul d be t he last to minimize the:fa.ct that the se probl ems are of great moment and not at all easy of solution. Nevertheless, I would again re i terate that it is my consi dered judgement that the kind of barricade that we have on Peyton and Harland Roads will be a bl ot on Atlanta • s good reputation and I am convinced that the sooner this blot is erased, the better for wr future . I hope that you wil l understand the spirit in which I make this criticism. As one who is frequently accused of being a one man Chamber of Commerce in my conversations with 11 furriners", both in and out of Atlanta, and as a resident for fifty of my fifty-two years, I w2.nt for our town only the best of all good things. Warm personal regards. Sincerely ~d fraternally y ours, p(;_ r //' . ., "' Irving-[. Greenberg, M. D. ILG/hf
