Dear Mr. Allen: In its meeting on December 17, 1968, on a basis of a recommendation from its Housing Sub-Committee, the Citizens Central Advisory Council of Economic Opportunity Atlanta, Inc., recommended that you be requested to consider making the appointment of a tenant to the next vacancy on the Atlanta Housing Authority. This matter has been discussed with residents of the several housing projects and they feel that it is time to secure the advice and counsel of tenants at the policy-making levelo This is a principle t hat is being effective in all levels of social and economic activity. Economic Opportunity Atlanta has certainly found it advantageous in that one-third of the membership on its Board of Directors is composed of elected representatives of the people who are being served. Through a proper election process several nominees could be named by the tenants of public housing projects from which you might be able to make a selection.
