Dear Sirs

At the public hearing held by the new Community Relations Commission of
the city of Atlants, the matter of admittance of Megroen to Nursing Hones
in the area was brought before the Commission. Hira. A. J. Dowpney, 1495
Mogloy Dr., 5. ¥., reported the following:

I went in person to Highview, 2000 Springdale Road, 3. ¥. Upon
inquiry ae te admission, the Director was frank to state that no
Segroes had ever been aduitted, but that someday they, perhaps,
would have to comply because they were federally supported by

Hi11-Burten funds. However, this wae remote, since they had a
long waiting lict.

We will appreciate information from you about the mmber of Negroes who
have applied to the Highview Hospital, the number who have been aduitted,
the average time between being placed on o list and being aduitted.
