Swamped as you are with mail, I just couldn't let the
recent racial incident pass without putting in my word
of personal commendation for your courage -- both
physical and moral -=- in dealing forthrightly and
constructively with a situation, which, without your
decisive and capable leadership could have been quite
disastrous and militated against the fine atmosphere
of race relations that prevails in our great city.
You have my prayers and offer of help in any way
possible as you seek to lead Atlanta forward.
