Dear Mr. Mayor:
The shameful thing which happened on Tuesday afternoon
and night left me sick of heart.
I want to express to you my deep sense of admiration
for your courage and forbearance. I think you were
magnificent.
I question, though, whether or not,sometimes ,forbearance
is entirely an answer wh you are dealing with a mob
of howling savages.
